El autor trata el tema de la interdependencia como antídoto que aporta la terapia gestalt frente al individualismo y al aislamiento imperante actualmente.

Conceptos como autonomía, co-dependencia, dependencia de la identidad -como maneras de dependencia- y la relación terapéutica vista desde la teoría de campo, son tratados en los tres epígrafes del texto.
